About Daniel Hope

British violinist Daniel Hope’s unquenchable thirst for all things musical is reflected in a multifaceted career that embraces modern media, technologies and stylistic diversity. Born in South Africa in 1973—with Irish ancestry he explored in the 2022 television documentary Celtic Dreams—Hope was trained at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Stoke d’Abernon. His early career, which climaxed in his membership of the Beaux Arts Trio, gave a flavour of things to come, including themed projects such as 2003’s Forbidden Music (pieces secretly written by Jewish composers incarcerated by the Nazis) and 2004’s East Meets West (an eclectic mix of Shankar, Bartók, Ravel, Schnittke and Falla). In 2013, he presented a TV documentary titled The Secrets of the Violin, and further honed his performing and presenting skills during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns with his online series Hope@Home/on Tour, featuring performances from his Berlin home and elsewhere, and Hope@Home Next Generation, celebrating the talent of young musicians.
