This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges. Find fan favourites you already love next to breakout stars and emerging voices. Topping the list this week is Zach Bryan’s new song “Dear Miss”, which the outsider country superstar promised to release if his beloved Philadelphia Eagles won this year’s Super Bowl. The Birds prevailed against the favoured Chiefs, and Bryan made good on his word, dropping the sweetly emotional tune just a few days after the big game. “Dear Miss” is quintessential Bryan, with fingerpicked arpeggios and an epic beat serving as a backdrop for his heart-on-sleeve lyrics. Though Bryan tends to write about heartbreak, this time around he sounds gently optimistic, as the song’s narrator hopes to make a lover’s mother proud with a promise to “change over time”. “Dear Miss” follows Bryan’s release of another new tune, “Blue Jean Baby”, which he shared with fans in late January to celebrate the Eagles making it to the Super Bowl.
