The National Commission and Integration Commission (NCIC)

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is a statutory body established under the National Cohesion and Integration Act No.12 of 2008. The establishment of NCIC recognized the need for a national institution to promote national identity and values, mitigate ethno-political competition and ethnically motivated violence, eliminate discrimination on ethnic, racial and religious basis and promote national reconciliation and healing.

The Brief

GIZ CPS with NCIC engaged Mediaforce as a consultant to take lead in the development, production, and translation of audio messages to Kiswahili, Sheng and Somali Languages for 42 community radio stations of the Kenya Community Radio Network and one national radio station, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). The main purpose of the assignment was to produce content for radio that will raise awareness on the need for social cohesion, hope, concern for one another, as well as re-emphasize COVID 19 prevention.

Objective of the assignment

Produce 4 messages in 4 different languages, voice-over, edit and translate 16 (sixteen), creative 45 seconds audios that address the objectives herein set out, through the lens of peace, cohesion and social issues surrounding COVID-19, that resonate with the public:

Pre-production scoping out of the project.
consultation with NCIC and GIZ team.
Conceptualization scriptwriting of the message
Presentation and approval from NCIC/GIZ team
The production itself: voice-overs, translation, developing the storyboard, production, music rights and post-production editing. Responsible for arranging and managing all voice-overs, including seeking permission where necessary.
Presentation of the products to the NCIC/GIZ team for feedback and validation
Finalization and presentation of the products

The product format of broadcast standard. The audio quantity shall be: 1x Master CD with all 16audios and a backup on external hard drive 16 x Data CD for media distribution, 1 x CD with social media formats of all audio.

Scripts, and voice overs for community radios, translated into English, Swahili, Sheng and Somali languages.
