The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Assistant Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Boban Mihailović and the CEO of Data Cloud Technology (DCT) Danilo Savić, in the presence of the Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia Bassel Salah.
The meeting was held during the ICT Minister’s visit to the State Data Center in Kragujevac, Serbia. The discussions focused on fostering cooperation and exchanging expertise in data centers.
During the visit, Talaat toured the State Data Center and explored its capabilities. Spanning a four-hectare parcel, the Center supports the development of Serbia’s IT and e-services sector, marking a significant step in Serbia’s tech advancement.
The ICT Minister commended Serbia’s accomplishments in the data center field, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to the advancement of this industry. He looked forward to strengthening cooperation and exchanging knowledge in this area.
For his part, Mihailović explained that the State Data Center was established following global standards, operating under the Serbian Prime Minister’s Office, with strong connections to the data center in Belgrade. The Center provides cloud computing, hosting, and secure data storage services for public administration, local self-government, and commercial users, including leading IT companies. In addition, the Center offers resources for science and technology parks and startups.
In a related context, the ICT Minister met with the Founder of Vlatacom Institute Vladimir Cizelj, in the presence of the Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić, and the Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia. They explored opportunities for collaboration with the Serbian company in R&D and AI applications, leveraging the Egyptian talent pool. Vlatacom is a privately owned, accredited R&D institute and turn-key solution provider.
Moreover, Talaat met with the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad Boris Dumnić, along with faculty members from Serbia's leading engineering education institution. The meeting, joined by the Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia, underlined fostering cooperation in digital capacity-building and R&D.
It is worth mentioning that the University of Novi Sad is one of the biggest educational and research institutions in Central Europe.
During the meeting, Talaat outlined the specializations and educational programs offered by Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) in partnership with prestigious international universities. He emphasized boosting collaboration between EUI and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in implementing specialized training programs.
In addition, Dumnić reviewed the academic specializations and educational programs offered by the Faculty of Technical Sciences, including electronic, mechanical, and civil engineering, as well as computing and IT. He also explored the potential for collaboration in advanced capacity building, collaborative R&D projects, and applications of emerging technologies such as AI.
In a similar vein, the ICT Minister toured the Science and Technology Park Novi Sad, which hosts various innovative tech startups, R&D centers of major companies, and the University of Novi Sad.
During the tour, Talaat explored STP Novi Sad, which promotes networking between university professors, students, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He also gained valuable insights into several successful models of small companies incubated within STP.
The meetings were attended by the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, and Director of the Central Department of International Relations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Samah Aziz.
