Lord Of The Vail
Note: From the developer, I highly recommend playing the game with the World of Horror soundtrack in the background.
You move around with (A) and (D) or click the sides.
(A to move left) and (D to move right).
Press (Tab) to toggle the inventory. ( or Click Equip Button)
Press Escape to go Fullscreen.
Click anywhere to fast forward the text.
You interact with things by clicking on them. If you're lucky, you'll find an item.
There are two types of items: passives/perks and tools, perks work passivly but tools need to be equipped to work.
For example, in the office with the TV and lamp, click on the dark brown jacket.
When you find an item, drag it into the active slot (E) to equip it. Once an item is equipped, you can use it. You use it by clicking on whatever you want to interact with. Click around, and you should find something special in the main office.
You’ve probably noticed the TV. You can buy stuff through the TV menu. Buying items will cost you funds, of course.
And last thing, the skill stat governs your chances of succeeding in an event.
You will lose the game if--
your police/HP number reaches zero,
your corruption stat is increased to 5 or above,
Or an intruder enters your office. They have a chance to appear with each report (They appear with a audio cue). So, when you hear an odd noise, i might be time to check the window. Remember, you’re not safe—even while doing paperwork.
A GAME BY
Me - Matte0802
Created for Scream Jam 2024
You work as a police chief investigating reports and doing paperwork while at the same time trying to survive the cursed town of New Britannia. The game takes heavy inspiration from the gameplay aspects of World of Horror, with some quirks like an inventory system, a point and click system and upgrade mechanics. From a world-building and visual perspective, it draws inspiration from movies like Se7en.
Heavily inspired by World of Horror and films like Se7en, the game includes:
- Four different endings.
- Ten different events with branching paths.
- Multiple choices with various endings for each investigation.
The entire game was completed in just under a week by myself. I'm quite happy with it if you look past its visuals. Trying to replicate a movie like Se7en, which uses a lot of brown and green tones, while also making it visually appealing felt nearly impossible. The game was also a victim of scope creep with the inventory system, choices, and so on. Anyway, I'm just thankful I actually finished this time, lol. Thanks a lot for looking a my game!
