Synopsis[]
Thor’s world is about to explode in this exciting leveled reader based on the upcoming film Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. His devious brother, Loki has taken over his home of Asgard, the powerful and ancient Hela has emerged with dark designs, and Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe. To escape and save his home, Thor must compete in an alien contest of champions, fighting his way to freedom against none other than his former ally and fellow Avenger... the Incredible Hulk!

The kids book starts with Thor's return to Asgard after his escape from Muspelheim. The book continues with Thor discovering Loki has been pretending to be Odin and follows them going to New York City where they find him. This being the main difference with the film, as they find Odin in Norway thanks to Doctor Strange's help, who is absent from the book. The book largely omits Hela's appearance as the three of them try to go back to Asgard, until suddenly something huge pushes Thor out of the Bifrost Bridge leaving him stranded on Sakaar. Instead of being captured by her, Thor is saved by Valkyrie who takes him to the Grandmaster. Thor agrees to fight in the Contest of Champions arena as long as he is set free if he wins, when in the film he is forced to fight in the arena. The book ends with Thor fighting Grandmaster's champion, who happens to be Hulk. Due to the main differences with the established continuity of Thor: Ragnarok, per our canon policy, the kids book is deemed to be non-canon.
