- "Will the baby be human or synthezoid? A bit of both?"
- ―Wanda Maximoff to Vision[src]
Synthezoids are a specific type of android created partly or entirely out of synthetic, organic-like materials.
History[]
Prototype Synthezoid[]
The first prototype synthezoid was created by Phineas Horton in 1940s. Dubbed the Synthetic Man, it was featured at the 1943 Stark Expo.[1]
Vision[]
- "The Regeneration Cradle prints tissue, it can't build a living body."
"It can, you can. You lack the materials." - ―Helen Cho and Ultron[src]
Enthralled by Ultron, Helen Cho was tasked with creating a synthetic body for him using her Regeneration Cradle and the supply of vibranium he provided. Cho was successful, as the vibranium atoms were fully compatible with tissue cells, binding them together, which allowed her to build a human-like synthezoid body, powered by the Mind Stone. However, due to the Avengers interfering, Ultron could not upload his consciousness into the body, which was seized by the Avengers. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner were able to combine the body with J.A.R.V.I.S.'s AI matrix, fusing them into a new being, which called itself Vision. Vision was created without the flaw that made Ultron view humanity as the biggest threat to itself, so he joined the Avengers to stop him.[2]
Being a member of the Avengers, Vision agreed to sign a newly-ratified Sokovia Accords, cataloging his unique nature as a synthezoid.[3] When Thanos invaded Earth in an attempt to acquire the Mind Stone, Vision was consensually killed by Wanda Maximoff, who destroyed the Stone with her powers. However, Thanos used the Time Stone to undo Vision's death, before ripping the Stone out of his head and killing him again.[4] Vision's remains were subsequently seized by S.W.O.R.D., as Tyler Hayward intended to rebuild him into a sentient weapon as part of Project Cataract.[5]
Westview Anomaly[]
- "But how did she even do it? Bring him back without the Mind Stone?"
"Who knows? But she has the world's only vibranium synthezoid, playing Father-Knows-Best-In-Suburbia." - ―Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis[src]
Deep in grief and despair, Wanda Maximoff unleashed her Chaos Magic, creating a massive hex in Westview, transforming it into a world based on her favorite sitcoms and recreating Vision to be her husband.[5] This drew the attention of S.W.O.R.D., as Tyler Hayward eventually deployed White Vision, created out of the remains of the original Vision, to eliminate Maximoff. Vision confronted his counterpart and gained access to his system, allowing the past data and memories of the original Vision to be available, which prompted White Vision to retreat.[6]
