Planet 0259-S,[1] also known as the Garden, is a greenfield planet where Thanos resided following the Infinity War.
History[]
Thanos’ Retirement[]

Planet 0259-S was a planet owned by Thanos that he intended when he and the Black Order would retire to after they had brought balance to the universe. Thanos spoke of this to Nebula at length while she had her cybernetics fitted.[1]

In 2018, after Thanos had achieved his lifetime goal of killing half of all life in the universe, via the power of the Infinity Stones, he used the Space Stone to teleport himself to the Garden, where he settled at his farm, while smiling contentedly at the sunrise.[2]

Three weeks later, Thanos used the Infinity Stones to destroy themselves in order to avoid being tempted to use their power for personal gain, though this ended up wounding him badly and scarring him due to the gamma radiation. It also damaged the Infinity Gauntlet and resulted in the Gauntlet being fused to his hand. Two days later, Thanos went into the field and gathered crops to make a stew. He then walked slowly to his farm and prepared the hot water for it.[1]
Ambush on Thanos[]

Captain Marvel did a recon of the Garden and found that Thanos was alone on the planet. She and the rest of the Avengers then ambushed him on his farm. Thor cut off his left arm preemptively with Stormbreaker. However, this was a futile effort as, Rocket showed the team that the Stones were missing from the Gauntlet. Captain America and Black Widow asked Thanos what he did with them and he revealed what he had done. Though Bruce Banner and War Machine initially thought him to be lying, Nebula confirmed that Thanos was not a liar. Touched, Thanos thanked her, even admitting that he had been too harsh with her before an enraged Thor cut off his head with Stormbreaker in retaliation. Defeated, the Avengers left the planet, leaving Thanos' corpse behind and the farm abandoned.[1]
Trivia[]
- In the comics, at the end of the Infinity Gauntlet story-arc, Thanos fakes his own death and retires on a distant planet to be a farmer.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Joe Russo coined the name of Titan II during a Q&A with Collider.[3] The name was used also in the script of Avengers: Endgame[4] but it was never used for the planet onscreen nor in Avengers: Infinity War tie-in merchandise. In Avengers: Endgame, it was officially referred to as "The Garden" and as "Planet 0259-S."
