Once upon a time we had this ugly shed in our backyard….
The shed had been built by my dad & husband just for some extra storage. We needed a place to house our lawnmower, weedeater, and other odds & ends for the yard. After it was built it sat in my backyard for a couple of years just looking like this….
Can you say BLAH?!?
So one day, a couple of years ago, I decided to take action!! I was tired of looking at this eye sore!! I looked at inspiring sheds online & decided it was time to add some cuteness to this very white, very boring, shed!! After a few coats of paint, some lanterns, & some landscaping, our shed now looks like this…
Much better, don’t ya think??
Isn’t it amazing what a coat of paint can do!!
(for those wondering…yes, this is the same paint color that I used for my laundry room)

These little lanterns were purchased by my mom…they were a Hobby Lobby find!! I love the character they add to the shed. At night, when we have company over for cook-outs & things I like to put a candles in them & light them up for the evening. They really look adorable lit up & give the yard a little ambiance as well!!
I just added this sign the other day…
This was just an extra sign my mom had laying around, and even though its not an actual potting shed…I think it still looks cute above the doorway!!
This mirror/window was also something my mom had laying around..
It gives the look of a faux window & has a little shelf which serves almost like a little window box with the potted flowers! Unfortunately, my geraniums aren’t bloomed out in this pic!! Boo!
I had originally painted these clay pots white, but over the last couple of years the paint has worn & now has that chippy paint look! I thought about re-painting them, but I actually like this look better than the solid white pots! I also have an idea for some quick & easy DIY shutters for this “window”…I hope to get them done in the next week or so! I will post a little tutorial on them when they are complete!
Last, but not least we added some landscaping to both sides of the shed to dress it up a bit more!
We added some bushes & every summer I planted vincas around it as well! When the vincas get big & full, the pink blooms just look beautiful against the green color of the shed!
Well, that’s it for my Shed Makeover….even though this project was done a couple of years ago, this shed is still one of my favorite parts of our backyard! It definitely adds some cuteness to our outdoor space…
I will be sharing more of our backyard space with you in the next few days including my patio & all the work I just recently completed in our big flowerbed!! I hope that you will come back to tour the rest of our outdoor oasis!!
Hope you are all having a beautiful Monday!!

Ha, I thought it actually looked way better than most sheds in the before pictures and than seeing the after pictures it looks amazingly adorable. What a difference:). I sometimes feel like I wasn’t born with all the woman traits I’d like to have because I’m not crafty and I thought the before looked good but that’s why I’m thankful for inspirational people like yourself:).
Just wondering if you have any idea where your Mom got that potting shed sign? I would love to buy it for my potting shed.
