Events[]
- The first sunrise marks a beginning of the Years of the Sun, new reckoning of time.[1][2]
- The Long Night ends, and the living things across Middle-earth begin to grow once more.[1]
- Men, the Second Children of Ilúvatar, awake in the far east in Hildórien. Seeking to corrupt them, Morgoth secretly leaves Angband and commits command of the war to Sauron.[2][3]
- After grievous losses, Fingolfin's host completes the crossing of the Helcaraxë and finally arrives to the North of Middle-earth.[2][4]
- Battle of the Lammoth is fought and Argon, the third son of Fingolfin, is slain by the Orcs.[5]
- Fingolfin marches unopposed across Ard-galen and keeps a watch over the gates of Angband, but Morgoth remains hidden. Then, the Ñoldorin host withdraws to Hithlum, where they camp near the Lake Mithrim.[2][4]
