The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a publicly funded broadcasting provider of the United Kingdom.
It was founded in 1922 as the British Broadcasting Company Ltd by Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company, Metropolitan-Vickers, General Electric, Western Electric, and British Thomson-Houston for use in experimental radio services. They became the non-commercial British Broadcasting Corporation in 1927 under a Royal Charter issued by the British Crown.
They have created two radio series of The Lord of the Rings and one of The Hobbit.
