Aidan Turner (b. June 19, 1983) is an Irish actor, known for playing Dante Gabriel Rossetti in Desperate Romantics, Ruairí McGowan in The Clinic, John Mitchell on the supernatural drama series Being Human, and Ross Poldark on the British series Poldark. He plays Kíli in the film trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.
Career[]
Turner starred in two Irish feature films, Alarm and Porcelain, and co-starred in season 6 of the long running series The Clinic before moving to London. He followed that performance with the role of Rossetti in BBC's Desperate Romantics. Turner then appeared in the critically acclaimed TV movie, Hattie. The Hobbit trilogy, his next major appearance, filmed for 14 months in New Zealand, wrapping in July. The first of the three movies was released worldwide December 12-14, 2012, the second in December 2013. Turner also appears in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones as Luke Garroway. Director Harald Zwart asked Aidan to read after seeing him in The Hobbit footage shown at Comic-Con. Aidan was signed immediately, and City of Bones was released on August 23, 2013.
