Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,
Spatial Data on the Web Working Group members,
The Spatial Data on the Web Working Group [1], a joint collaboration between the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and W3C, is now closed.
The mission of the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group was to clarify and formalize the relevant standards landscape. In particular:
1. to determine how spatial information can best be integrated with other data on the Web;
2. to determine how machines and people can discover that different facts in different datasets relate to the same place, especially when 'place' is expressed in different ways and at different levels of granularity;
3. to identify and assess existing methods and tools and then create a set of best practices for their use;
4. where desirable, to complete the standardization of informal technologies already in widespread use.
The Working Group has reached the end of its charter [2]. Joint collaboration with the OGC and maintenance of the Working Group's Recommendations now happen in the Spatial Data on the Web Interest Group [3].
The Group published two W3C Recommendations:

https://www.w3.org/TR/2017/REC-vocab-ssn-20171019/
W3C thanks the group chairs, Ed Parsons (Google) and Kerry Taylor (Australian National University), and all the participants in the group for their efforts.
If you have any further questions, please contact Francois Daoust <[email protected]>.
This announcement follows section 5.2.7 of the Process Document [4].
