Filmed documentary-style, lending a creepy authenticity to proceedings, Daniel Stamm's film tries to do something a bit different with a formulaic genre, and almost succeeds.
The naturalistic performances are excellent, the opening sequences are particularly good, and I wonder why I haven't seen Patrick Fabian in other things. His Rev. Cotton Marcus is a chatty and likable shyster who cares about his flock, but worries about his own belief.
Ashley Bell also give a committed performance as the young girl who may or may not be possessed.
Unfortunately, the tension dissipates towards the end and the ending is a little silly, but overall the film deserves credit for trying to be original.
