Highly personal opinion - proceed with nuance.
If I were to describe ‘Malaikkotai Valiban’ in one sentence, it’ll be “What a shame!”
Now, in no way, shape or form am I calling this a bad film. It’s not a great film too. It’s 2 hours of neat, high quality technical filmmaking with highs and lows, that stoops into a disappointing pit in the last half hour.
MV is by far the best-looking Malayalam movie I’ve seen in a looooong…

Easily one of the best action movies out of Malayalam in recent times!
The debutant director Nahas Hidayath has unapologetically directed a love letter to martial arts and managed to use his writing to elevate the scenes. It's not mindless action, it's action with a heart, and THAT is definitely reflected on the screen.
Pepe, Neeraj and Shane have wonderfully executed their roles and it's clear how hard they've worked. That climax cameo, the music, the camera work - everything…
