Dune: Part Two

Dune: Part Two

There are moments in cinematic history where we have to take a step back and realise we’ve stepped up to the next level. This is one of them.

I cannot begin to explain what this film is. On a story level, I’m a book reader.  I knew where this film was going and what it needed to show going in and yet I was hooked to every moment. Three hours and I couldn’t spare a moment to go to the bathroom. That is saying something. This film is absolutely electric. Every single moment is earned and deserved. Every frame is captivating.

And those frames. This is one of the best looking movies ever made. Scale is captured on a level we have never seen before. One scene has people looking like ants and whilst I’m sure there was heavy CGI in it you’d be hard tasked to pick out anything that doesn’t look immaculate. Sand worms are… well they’re bloody 200ft sand worms and they’re insane.

The acting is stellar all round. I need to talk about Chalamet, as this is the first time I’ve really felt that he is the next thing in cinema. This performance is incredible. Zendaya, Pugh, and Bautista are also great. Skarsgard is of course phenomenal, but we really need to speak about Austin Butler. I haven’t really rated him that highly but today that changes. His performance is the best in this film.

And let me talk about the sound briefly. This movie has hands down the best sound I’ve ever heard in a movie. Like the best. No seriously… the fucking best.

This is the kind of movie that reminds me why I love film so much. This is pinnacle. Everyone should watch this.

My one note is try to watch the first movie right before this as it enhances vision scenes and prophecy!

I’m mind blown.
