This movie is an important part of my childhood. I do not know how many times i’ve watched it growing up but it must easily be over 25 times. I hadn’t watched it in years and I made my bf watch it for his first time. I was a bit worried that nostalgia made it good and it wasn’t going to be what I remembered but I had no need to worry.
This movie captures the good of 2000s movies. Young Josh Hutcherson, cringy bullies, magic… It also has some funny scenes and still so devastating but also beautiful.
Something I love about this movie is that it feels so real. The main characters are relatable. Making his family poor and talking about it so often and showing the struggles of poor families is something we don’t see enough in movies. The fact that we learn that Leslie died so abruptly with Jess is so powerful. Leslie is such a great character that you get attached to so easily and you love her so much for being so nice and pure. Learning that she’s dead just like that makes the movie even more real and really sinks your heart.
I looove how the movie portrayed the children’s imagination. We see what they imagine while knowing it’s not actually there. The fact that they portray family relationship struggles, being bullied and just all real life problems with silly characters and a world where they are above it all and they get to shine and be happy i- 🥲
I do believe watching this movie as a kid you need to have a certain maturity and not just because of Leslie’s death but because it’s a great portrayal of being a kid in such a cruel world.
I always related to Jess (being a quiet kid, love to draw, being a teacher’s pet) and I always wanted to know Leslie irl because she’s such a cool person and didn’t care what others thought and was just a free soul.

One of my all time favourite movies. I was so obsessed with it when it came out. Probably my 14th time watching.
Really funny at times, great acting (from children which is rare) and Pennywise is actually really creepy.
The only thing making it 4.5 instead of 5 is because I really hate the CGI and some camera effects. I really don’t find anything scary about the painting lady because I only see the CGI. I’m also not scared of sped up movement (like in “Saw” when they get that edit when they try to escape and everything is fast and crazy) and Pennywise had so many of them. I’d find it scarier if he would move normally.
Still an amazing movie and love all the vibes of it.

I was a bit underwhelmed by this movie. I was hearing so much about it so I was excited to watch but i finished it wanting more.
I needed a bit more alien stuff or more answers. Maybe this was the plan of the movie to kinda show that there’s not an answer to it and it is unresolved but I feel like we could’ve gotten a bit more idk.
Felt like the whole husband storyline was like unnecessary.
I did really enjoy the alien parts and the shooting scene.
Did not love the “real footage” especially that it wasn’t actually real.

I know a window hates to see that bitch Sally coming
saw in theatres for the 50th anniversary.
The over acting, the screaming, the goofy running… SO good and SO funny.
Even Leatherface was baffled that Sally jumped off the second floor window at the beginning. He was frozen shocked for like 30seconds before he continued the chase. AND THEN DOING IT AGAIN? I’d let her live at that point.

I don’t usually watch movies like this but I had to for Lizzie Olsen.
I thought the movie was really well made with beautiful shots and incredible acting. All these actresses did fantastic and I could see any of them winning an award for their performances.
I’m not sure how I felt about the dad being all “good” at the end and then you realize that it was his ghost, but i did like that we saw him. It was kind of a shock effect because you don’t see him all movie and then you see the wheelchair coming in and then you wonder if we’ll actually see him or not. It’s right after that that i was not sure because it looked like he was all good and faking it. But then its kind of another shock factor to see that he was actually dead and the girls were crying over him. I still thought the ending was nice.
Lizzie’s singing at the end felt like a warm mother’s hug. I loved how the lullaby mirrored the story too.
Very cute movie about siblings and complicated families. Amazing acting and stunning women
