You were my ghost
This is an IMAX release that I was looking forward to all year! Not because that I’ve been a longtime fan of this movie, but because I never got the chance to see this movie opening night 10 years ago, and I will beat myself up over it for the rest of my life. The first time I regrettably watched it on my phone when I worked at my job, and missed a couple of scenes because it was from a Discord watch party, but I still loved it!! Dw! I also admittedly missed the first several minutes of the movie, not once, BUT TWICE. Trust me, I feel embarrassed about it. Maybe when I have the 4k, I’ll have the full Interstellar experience.
Watching this in IMAX is such an out-of-body experience, it felt like I was in an interdimensional space in which I was 15 years old imagining my first watch.
I see this as Christopher Nolan giving a sense of how he feels about his relationship with nature being affected by space travel changing human evolution and also linearly transforming into our transcendent relationship with time. Interstellar gives us a full-rounded story about a guy who wanted to reunite with his daughter, but then turns into a movie about Murph’s tethered attachment to Coop leading to a groundbreaking achievement in Astro Physics.
It’s Nolan at his most Kubrickian sci-fi prowess, a tense thrill ride of astronomically breathtaking visuals, transformative at its profound and knowing when to hit you with its emotional moments, in a film carefully edited at 60bpm matching with Zimmer’s score.
Interstellar is a Nolan masterpiece. Inject the docking sequence in my veins.
