I always support women's rights and also women's wrongs! Emma and Rachel if you want to, you can manipulate me. If you ruin my life, I still appreciate that.
This wasn't as freaky and disturbing as an average Lanthimos movie. It was more normal and decent. I don't say this to praise it. I like Lanthimos' unique style. And I'm not saying this because it was bad. It was great to see such a normal-freaky movie from Lanthimos.
I had a great time watching the movie. It's impossible not to love a movie with these three amazing women. Emma Stone shines in every Lanthimos movie. One of my favorite actor-director duos! These two should never be separated. I fell in love with Rachel Weisz again. I would never say anything if she manipulated me. A wonderful woman, great actress. And Olivia Colman. What a fantastic performance! I was blown away. I think it's the performances of these three that make "The Favourite" so good.
A power struggle between two women using another woman. The queen is like a tennis ball, being dragged to a different direction every time. Tennis players have only one goal, to be "the favorite". But no matter how good their racket and tactics are, in the end, the thing that determines everything is the "tennis ball", the queen. And no one knows what she will do. As Sarah said, she is an extraordinary person.
I loved the femininity of this movie. Everything was feminine. All the cunning, the plans, the love triangle. I wasn't bored for a minute while watching it. I felt manipulated, just like the queen. I was on Sarah's side and then Abigail's side. Then I was on Sarah's, then Abigail's..
The ridiculousness of the bourgeoisie, the power struggle, women's intelligence, manipulation, forbidden loves, jealousy, a few rabbits, a champion duck and puffy dresses. This movie will remain in my mind like this. It may be the Lanthimos movie I had the most fun with. If you haven't watched it, highly recommend it.
