once again, this film confirms chazelle cant make a bad film. there’s so much to unpack with this film i don’t know where to begin. first off, it’s incredible and i’m so happy it lived up to the hype.
as with all chazelle films the SOUNDTRACK! i think that’s one of the things i enjoy most about his films; the scores are always incredible and this film is no exception. emma stone and ryan gosling are magnetic on screen and i fear im going to have emma singing stuck in my head for the foreseeable future. ryan gosling gives such a strong performance in this, like truly incredible. the actors compliment the script so well and i don’t think this film would’ve worked with anyone other than ryan and emma. this film is such a deep dive into the human mind and emotions, exploring passion, desire and ultimately sacrifice. it’s such a beautiful story, emma and ryan do a beautiful job telling it.
the cinematography is stunning, as another staple of chazelle films. the visuals had me in utter awe. combined with the script, camerawork and incredible soundtrack, this film is a masterpiece.
