I couldn’t sleep and so thought I would do something far more productive and watch The Tigger Movie.
Tigger is a menace to society. In the first five minutes alone he threatens the narrator, assaults Pooh and Piglet before obliterating Eeyore’s house AGAIN. He must be stopped. I recommend the hundred acre wood take immediate action in neutralising this threat.
]]>The most geographically confusing film of all time.
How did Jack walk to the weird holiday tree circle? Where would the Halloween door take him, does it teleport people? Why are there two random graves connected to each other? How did Jack know they were connected? Why is this actually going to keep me up all night?
]]>Never knew watching old men gossip about each other would be so entertaining…
]]>I think Walt Disney was missing a trick not taking her on the Matternhorn Bobsleds, I’m sure she would have enjoyed that far more…
]]>Wouldn’t it be easier if the villain didn’t intentionally leave clues to his dastardly plot? Couldn’t he have gone for something like Genesis 9:29 and send Dear Mr Cruise on a wild goose chase?
]]>After my lifelong battle with one "Mrs Doubtfire", this film felt like an out of body experience which is not entirely helped by the ad for Mrs Doubtfire The Musical appearing in the corner of the screen as I write this. A great film regardless.
]]>I’ve finally made it to the end of the Disney Animation Wartime Era….
I don’t know if it was the joy of finally reaching the end or how low my expectations were going in….but this one was alright…
I aspire to be Mr Toad. 🐸
]]>If I had to be eaten by a fictional monster, it probably wouldn’t be a Gremlin.
]]>There was a small fragment of a plastic spoon on my desk from a previous lecture that I nearly used to commit an atrocity multiple times during this film.
]]>The Cat in the Hat is one of Hollywood's greatest entries in the experimental horror genre. This film is undeniably a cult classic and is rightfully adored by generations of film lovers. The Cat in the Hat sparks joy within it's viewers in a way that no other picture has been able to replicate since.
The opening credits sequence is a masterclass in book to film adaptation, perfectly capturing the style and feel of the original classic. As with all film adaptations of children's books, the film must expand on the original lore set out in the book and this film definitely chooses a way to do that. The introduction of iconic characters such as Mr Humberfloob, Larry Quinn and the ever iconic Mrs Kwann only elevates the piece further. Choosing to introduce us to the enigmatic Mr Humberfloob elevates the stakes in a way that the original tale never could. Indeed Mr Humberfloob's love of cleanliness and hygiene could be viewed as an ahead of it's time satire of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Cat in the Hat lovers like myself, have theorised that the director Bo Welch is in fact a time traveller and chose this film as a warning to society. I await the day when this theory is proven by "The Mother of all Messes" becoming a reality and we are thrust into a world of winding carpets, babysitter log flumes and fire breathing lavatories.
The Cat in the Hat is cinema's greatest achievement. To even attempt to recreate this perfect concoction of the family and straight horror genres would be an insult to it's legacy.
Thank You, Cat in the Hat, the planet would not be the same without you.
]]>As the renowned playwright William Shakespeare once wrote: "Happiness, Happiness, wherefore art thou Happiness?"
I believe this film has finally broken me. I am numb to the sensation I once called joy. This motion picture brought me forth into pastures new—pastures I wish never to return to.
I compiled a list of my emotions during the film, and they are as follows:
Confusion, disappointment, sadness, anguish, distress, terror, rage, upset, aghast, frightened, alarmed, terrorized, petrified, dazed, numb, miserable, downcast, and utterly pained.
And that was just the opening credits. The film continued with outstanding dialogue such as "Aw Shucks, There's A Woman in this story"
Thankfully, there is only one more film before a cohesive narrative (I hope) returns with Cinderella.
]]>Having watched this film, I can confirm that it was not fun, nor fancy, nor particularly freeing.
Shockingly this is only the first of these films I have fallen asleep in which may have actually boosted my rating of it. The marionette's were deeply disturbing. Not exactly the sight I want to be greeted by after a nap...
I now know that I really don't want to have a harp protruding from my back as that seems quite painful.
]]>Unfortunately, this film had nothing to do with the musical Twisted…
]]>Of all of the Broadway musicals, they chose Chicago?
]]>Is The Room in The Room with us?
]]>When presented with the title "Make Mine Music" I really was not expecting the sheer amount of gun violence in this film...
There is in fact so much, that the film is not available on Disney+... This is yet another package film of ten shorts, all of which seemed to end with someone getting shot...two groups feud in the mountains....they all end up getting shot. A young couple dances at twilight....and then they are both shot....
One particular film features a group of wildlife creatures who seem to keep being murdered in particularly grizzly ways. Each time, the narrator says, "Well there goes another one" whilst trying to contain his laughter...
However, I'm never going to complain about a singing fedora...
Just three more from this era to go...
]]>As I write this review, I am standing in my kitchen, dripping from head to toe in egg yolk. Damn you Florence Pugh and your fancy egg cracking ways!
Film was great...will be listening to the soundtrack as I mop up this disaster.
]]>I sat down to watch this film with a glass of Apple Juice. In hindsight, I should have gone for something far stronger.
The Three Caballeros is a perfectly normal film for about a minute and a half, after that the whole thing goes completely off the rails and left me questioning all of my life choices that led me to this very moment. Words cannot describe the emotional rollercoaster that Walt Disney called "The Three Caballeros". I have never wanted to throttle a cartoon character as much as I want to throttle Donald Duck in this film.
Send Help :)
]]>As we move into the Wartime Era of Disney Animation with the first of multiple "Package Films", Saludos Amigos has a noticeably small budget as the animation is nowhere near as impressive as previous films but the animators still manage to convey character just as well. This film is more of a documentary describing the culture of Latin America in the 1940s than one with a narrative. The film does contain multiple animated sequences which can be quite entertaining, especially Donald Duck's moment with the bridge. Overall an entertaining 45 minutes.

]]>Similar to its predecessors, this film also heavily relies on sequences to pad the runtime however I found these to be much more enjoyable here. The first film of the series to have well utilised emotional moments as was Walt Disney’s goal.
]]>While technologically very impressive and somewhat entertaining, each sequence went on for far too long and I may have fallen asleep twice…
]]>I really enjoyed the opening to this film but the narrative began to lose me after a hole. Figaro the cat is undoubtedly one of the greatest characters ever put to screen.
]]>I realised I haven’t seen most of the Disney classics and so have begun the process of watching all of them….
It’s quite difficult to rate this film based on modern expectations as when it was released this was groundbreaking stuff, however, looking back on it, it seems to rely too much on sequences that would have worked well as part of the Silly Symphonies but do not contribute anything to the overall narrative.

Film was very good but the sheer number of plot lines became quite muddled towards the end. Loved the practical effects though!

]]>Overall, a good family film but in comparison to the previous two, I felt it really fell short. There was a distinct lack of “Paddington-esque sequences” which were some of my favourite parts in the previous two.
Was not a huge fan of the overall story either, taking Paddington out of London loses a lot of the British “charm” which made the first two so beloved.
However, the Brown family are all just as good with Hugh Bonneville being a stand out, Emily Mortimer makes a fantastic Mrs Brown and fits into the cast nicely. I also thoroughly enjoyed Mrs Bird’s subplot where she seems to be off in her own Harry Potter film, sneaking around with a lantern looking for clues…
]]>Did not appreciate the reference to Book of Mormon…..but they made up for it with Monopoly
]]>I felt it was only right to see this a 3rd time in cinemas and especially as it’s Halloween…
]]>Even scarier, knowing this is exactly the sort of thing that would happen to me…
