Dragons have laid waste to civilisation save for some isolated groups of underground-dwelling human survivors. One such group is led by Christian Bale and when a cigar-chomping Matthew McConaughey turns up with his military chums, a couple of tanks and a helicopter, the stage is set for a fight back against our scaly masters.
I have absolutely no recollection of Reign of Fire being released in 2002 (did it even get a cinema release in the UK?) but I've been wanting to see it for years because one of the sets - a destroyed London tube station and square - is featured in the Studio Tram Tour ride at Disneyland Paris. And I've been there a lot.
It's an odd film built around a strange concept, but the main cast (which also includes Gerard Butler) get into the spirit of things admirably and although some of the effects are a little dated and some of the sets are, well, obviously sets, Reign of Fire was still good fun.
