very impressive, good cast overall a lot of fun.
I really like how they played on Ariana’s great comedic timing - the sets were really impressive, and overall a good musical.
I do think it suffers from a lot of cliche issues in modern Hollywood productions - unnecessarily long (Gladiator 2 style) adding too much extra dialogue. Also the stage show works because of its clever usage of a small stage - less is more ig.
Also I hope they change the part about her sister in pt.2 because that shit is ableist as fuck anyway good movie bogged down by usual Hollywood bullshit 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥

When I was in Year 7 I had to give a motivational speech for an English assignment - mine was from the perspective of Katniss Everdeen rallying troops against the Capitol. My Mum made me watch the 'St. Crispin's Day' Speech scene from this movie before school that morning - tldr I got the highest mark and the video of me giving the speech was shown to other local primary schools as a good standard to meet so I owe a lot to Kenneth.

Lee is a compelling film with a great cast, even if they're not used particularly well.
The movie largely focusses on the brutality of war especially on women - which is often overlooked in WW2. It's refreshing that the film doesn't focus on Lee girlbossing her way through allied Europe's editorials and newspapers - while there is a lot of sexism in the industry this film isn't about that.
Andy Samberg gives a great subdued performance in this too.
The movie ends with a weird twist which at first I didn't think worked but might be necessary for the actual ending to hit harder, bringing it back to how its not just war where women experience sexual violence but unfortunately in all society - and how that can shape someone.
Overall it's not the best thing ever (a lot of it feels like a call the midwife episode) but its an interesting story about an interesting woman told by a female director who handles topics like this farrrr more intricately than any male director maybe outside of David Lynch.

]]>It’s nice to see a 90 minute comedy with mainstream appeal in cinemas after 10 years of comedies sorta being drowned out by marvel movies.
The Lorne Michaels dickriding was a bit much - ultimately I thought a pretty unlikeable character.
The rest of the cast is really where this film takes off, as well as the visual styling and for the most part the pacing.
The real overall message of the film is that Boomers had it so fucking easy getting their shit made!
