KAGO006’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Love Lies Bleeding" is not for everyone, it's a stylish, indie, over the top erotic revenge movie about love and addiction and the parallels between the two things with some freaky shit happening in the middle of it all, it's a movie I could see myself hating and I would have a reason for it, but I end up enjoying it so much and just intrigued and interested of what I'm seeing, it was so fun and it was shot beautifully, it's a really good and fresh take on the revenge genre, and it has a lot of freaky shit and some surrealism in it that the movie just don't explains and just let you guessing and saying what the hell is going on, but it was great and fun for me, and yes the reason why anyone could hate this is the messiness of it, this movie is so messy the characters and the decisions that they make are messy, like sometimes characters just acts like they are in a B revenge movie. but I can see that it was somehow on purpose, like just saying that this love story is so messed up and that just is obvious through whatever is happening in the story, at least that's the way I saw it. the movie really wanted to make a surreal third act, but I just think it failed, the ending was fun to watch visually, but just it wasn't the best way to showcase the idea of the film, I felt like it was forced and had no reason to happen but to make the audience freak out, it was visually great but story wise it wasn't.
and the two reasons that this is good is the beautiful, mysterious cinematography and lighting, and the acting, the cinematography was gorgeous to look at, the film did a great job in terms of visual storytelling, it was great, like the opening shot is so good and immediately hook you in and makes you wanna know what is happening, and the acting was amazing, everyone was great, I'm not a big fan of Kristen Stewart but she was great in here but sometimes she was weird but in a good way, and Ed Harris gave a surprising performance he was so great as a villain in this film, but the best performance here is Katy O'Brian, she was fantastic in every sense of the word, she gave us every emotion the character felt, she was great.
at the end I enjoyed this a lot and I could understand if anyone hates it, but it is so fun to watch, and it deserves a shot.
