1939 War propaganda warning us about the Nazi progression in Europe focusing on the nasty tricks they used conquering Czechoslovakia. Direct and to the point, so effective to deliver it's anti-Nazi message. Interesting to feel the political climate and get an insight to the chaos that ruled Europe leading up to World War II.

One of the many WW2 documentaries that would be made from this point forward. This in specific is about the war tensions between Germany and Czechoslovakia. It focuses a lot on the people's relation to the war and the ethnical issues related to the conflict. Apparently there used to be a lot of Germans living in Czechoslovakia, I didn't know that
It's just sad because I know eventually the nazis did manage to invade the country and it would take a long time for that territory to be freed again. I guess this general sadness will persist over most of these WW2 documentaries as I watch them. Oh well
Shoutouts to the comedians who drew a map of Europe and made it so southern France was literally the continent's boobs

"Nazi propaganda was stronger than the truth and racial excitement took the place of reasoning."
An important lesson from history and well documented look into the lead up to Nazi occupation in Czechoslovakia. Sad to watch as the Czechs stoically fitted themselves, their babies, their horses with gas masks and readily put themselves on the line to defend their democracy, only to be crushed by the utter heartbreak of being thrown under the bus by allies, whose lack of support allowed the Nazi takeover.

Herbert Kline made his breakthrough documentary Crisis: A Film of “The Nazi Way” as the storm clouds of impending war gathered over Europe in 1938. Narrated by illustrious American stage, film, and television actor, Leif Erickson, the film, which captures with evocative camerawork and ominous clarity the lead-up to the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, was shot at great personal risk to Kline and his crew members. Kline, a Jew born in Chicago and raised in Iowa, was in his late 20s when he began filming in the Sudeten region bordering Germany, and took on the hair-raising task of not only passing as a Nazi sympathizer in order to complete the project, but also smuggling the footage out of the Prague…
