The world wondered, could a movie in the Rocky franchise survive without its titular hero? Creed III answers with a resounding, yes.
I admit, when Michael B. Jordan was saying the fights were inspired by anime, I was a little incredulous. But seeing it in action? Holy shit. Easily the best fight scenes in the entire franchise, maybe in any professional fighting movie (professional being the operative word). It’s been a week and I’m still thinking of the final fight.

one year ago I wanted to learn how to do one pull up. I (unknowingly) joined the same gym that Jonathan Majors goes to in real life. today, I randomly did a pull up. it took one whole year and I never want to do it again. what I’m saying is that this movie is about me too. ❤️

Helluva directorial debut from Michael B. Jordan. Helluva performance from Jonathan Majors. A lot to love here but a wee-bit formulaic. Character and relationship driven and brilliantly capped off with arguably the best boxing fight in film history.
Fucking electric. Low-key, this might be in the top 2 Rocky/Creed films. Formulaic? Yes, but I’d push you to name 5 modern sports movies that aren’t. Uses all the tricks in the book yet still manages to fill me with excitement, emotion, and motivation. Loved this.
there are extended pockets of this where MBJ gets to go full weeb and envision a live action shonen anime that are so good i wished he went full in on it for the entire thing. the close ups on the eyes holy shit! what a way to start your directing career. sometimes you need a movie where two sexy shirtless men beat the shit out of each other, thankfully this is a movie that understands this
though the last decade or so has been by far the worst era of studio filmmaking in the medium's history, every so often there's a piece of IP franchise work that against all odds ends up being a real movie. most of the time, these blue-moon examples have Creed in the title.
