“The Fabelmans” shows us why the beauty in cinema is its contradictions. It’s a film where reality and fiction meld into one. Facts are unimportant, what matters is the truth and this is a truthful film.
I remember reading in an interview with Mia Hansen-Løve where she said whenever she makes a film about her real life, the real memories meld with the film to her. Spielberg shows us the danger and necessity of the process art has when we self canabalize our lives. We get to the truth but we get hurt in the progress and we must suffer through it so that we know what it feels like when we’re truly free in our hearts and minds.
It’s everything I wanted it to be, especially the incredible ending. Thank you, Maestro. You did excellent.
