]]>This kinda fell flat.
Too much exposition and bad writing came too hard too fast and ruined it.
There were moments with Nic Cage’s character that felt like you were having a panic attack.
I don’t ever wanna see his face again.

A more parasitic and repugnant underclass character than the movie this director is very obviously trying to emulate.
It really does bother me when movies that are shot beautifully, well directed and well acted, have a script about class struggle that has absolutely no fucking clue what it’s trying to say. On one hand it shows a incredible amount of naivety and pomposity among the wealthy characters, then at the same time paints them as victims and we’re supposed to be “shocked” at Olivers actions like the movie wasn’t clearly showing us all along that he’s not to be trusted.
There’s no twist here, there’s no message about class struggle. We leave the movie believing that the underclass of society (nevermind you that Oliver is definitely upper middle class and well off) are vampires that secretly hate and want to kill you if you’re better off then them. This movie has the same substance as a low-budget slasher film.
Barry Keoghan was amazing though. His eyes replicate a threat, as if everything about him is normal but something inhuman behind his eyes.
