I am not a Polar Express truther, I did not like this film as a child and thought that since I am an adult not I might look at it differently. Nope. The story is too convoluted and abstract at times for a children’s christmas film.
I can appreciate that the animation was made with motion capture and for that it gets my praise, but the animation has always creeped me out. Josh Hutcherson (Hero Boy) did a great job. But, saying that, what sort of name for a protagonist is ‘Hero Boy’, terrible.
Tom Hanks, Tom Hanks and Tom Hanks did well as 90% of the entire cast, even though there was not much differentiation in his voice with all of the characters.
I also hate Christmas films that discuss parents not believing in Father Christmas when the plot is about Father Christmas being real, because where do they think some of their presents come from then? If they did not put them there then who did? Always makes my eyes roll.
