Trap is the latest entry into the storied career of M Night Shyamalan. It's slightly above average i would say. Somewhere around the same as Old but better than Knock at the Cabin Door.
The appeal for his movies as anyone knows is the twist. I won't get into them because they are better experienced but let's talk about what's known info.
In the trailer M Night lays out the scenario of a Serial killer at a concert with his daughter who realizes the concert is a trap to capture him and what lengths he will go to to maintain normalcy while trying to escape. The premise is appealing enough that we want to know how we get here, what else has dad Josh Hartnett done, will he get caught and if so how and so much more.
By no means would I steer people away from this film. It's a fun ride. I would merely set realistic expectations and remind viewers M Nights Best movies came from a time people didn't know what to expect from him so it's hard to get too much now when we all know what to look for.
