Ricardo is Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics of University of São Paulo (FEA-USP) and Research Fellow at FIPE (Institute of Economic Research Foundation). Madeira earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University, has master degree in Economics from Fundação Getúlio Vargas at São Paulo (FGV-SP) and a bachelor degree in Economics from the University of São Paulo. His main area of research is in applied microeconomics to economic development and economics od education, with emphasis on impact evaluation of educational policies. Before joining the University of São Paulo, Madeira has served as a short term consultant to the World Bank. In the last years he has been involved in several projects of impact evaluation of educational policies implemented by both public sector and Non-Governmental Organizations. Madeira has also worked as a consultant on projects of impact evaluation for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
