Raquel Coelho is a PhD student in Learning Sciences and Technology Design, Education Data Science, and International Comparative Education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. She holds an M.A. degree in International Comparative Education from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree in Portuguese Language and Brazilian Literature from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her current research interest is the connection between culture and learning, especially as it relates to the education of students who have been historically marginalized in Brazilian society. One of her current focuses is on what automated analysis of large-scale textual data can teach us about the cultural resources that students bring to learning. In collaboration with teachers, she attempts to establish how the unique insights that data science can provide about students can support the design of culturally-informed learning experiences. She is one of the founding members of the Learning Science Brazil Affiliate of the International Society of the Learning Sciences.
