Showit has made it easy to track activity on your site using the free service Google Analytics. To begin, you will need to make sure you have a Google Analytics account. if you haven't already, you can go here to sign up.

✅ Showit now supports Google Analytics GA4

As of July 1, 2023, Google Universal Analytics (UA) properties will no longer process hits on websites. It's been completely replaced by the new GA4 property.

In October 2020, Google released version 4 of Analytics. The new Measurement ID number (starting with G-) is now the standard that replaces the legacy Tracking ID (starting with UA-).

Locating Your Google Analytics Measurement ID (G-)

First, log in to your Google Analytics account (or setup analytics for the first time.) Then navigate to Admin > Data Streams

Then click the arrow next to the domain you wish to track data to access your code.

Your Measurement ID beginning with G- will appear in the top right corner of the pop up. You can copy that ID and follow the instructions below to add it into Showit.

Add Your Measurement ID in Showit

Note: Your site must be launched for analytical data to start being gathered

Once you've signed up for your free Google Analytics account you will be provided a code referred to as the "Measurement ID" which will be a string of characters formatted as follows: G-000000

Once you get your Measurement ID, simply follow the steps below to set up Google Analytics for your site!

Under the Site Tab in the top left corner of Showit, click on your Site Settings.

In your site settings pop-up window, select the Third Party tab. Then paste your code into the Measurement ID field.

Note: You can also choose to not include the code on your blog templates. This is helpful if you have a separate blog plugin that adds the analytics code to your blog posts/pages.

All that's left to do is publish your design! As long as your site is live and published with the proper Measurement ID, Google Analytics should start tracking your website's traffic and activity! Enjoy the insights!
