The Raven
"The Raven" ('Corvus') est poema narrativum ab Edgaro Allan Poe scriptore Americano compositum. Textus, Ianuario 1845 primum prolatus, pro musica, lingua formali, et atmosphaera supernaturali saepe laudatur. Arcanum corvi dicentis commorationem enarrat, hominis tardum in insaniam casum indagans. Amator, discipulus academicus saepe putatus,[1][2] letum Lenore ('Eleanorae') suae amatricis lamentatur. Corvus, in herma Palladis Athenae considens, miseriam constante verbi nevermore ('numquam') iteratione instigare videtur. Poema variis mentionibus eruditionis popularis et antiquitatis classicae utitur.
Poe dixit se composuisse opus, secundum logica et rationem poema facere volens quod iudiciis criticis et popularibus placeret, ut in "Philosophia Compositionis" commentario sequente explicavit (1846). Poema a corvo dicente in Barnaby Rudge, mythistoria a Carolo Dickens scripta, partim excitatum est.[3] Poe rhythmum multiplicem et metrum "Lady Geraldine's Courtship," poematis Elizabethae Barrett, atque et consonantibus internis et alliteratione omnino utitur.
"The Raven" Poe primum tributum est in impressione in New York Mirror diurnario die 29 Ianuarii 1845. Poe iam vivus ob hanc editionem populo late gratus factus est, quamquam si non multum pecuniae tulit. Poema, mox reimpressum, per parodiam conversum et adumbratum, mixtam opinionem criticam accepit, sed nihilominus unum manet ex famosissimis poematibus umquam scriptis.[4]
