Tilda Meliot (English spelling confirmed via Collection Card) is a half working as General Manager of the Eloth Magic Guild and personal bodyguard to the Guild Branch President, Saha On.
Because she is a half, she has no divine affinity and no ability for divine magic, but her knowledge of the subject surpasses the level of professors; for this reason, gaining the General Manager position as a half is an unprecedented achievement.
Appearance[]
Tilda has a pale complexion (not unlike her boss), with long, medium-gray hair tied into a ponytail in back, and pink eyes. She has short, floppy, dark-gray ears, and cloven hooves instead of feet. Her business attire consists of a white collared blouse with a loose, dark-gray tie, tied in a bow in a similar fashion as the one in her hair. She also wears dark- to medium-gray slacks.
Personality[]
Tilda has been shown to take her job seriously, and watches closely over her boss, Saha.
She has excellent memory, but is not very smart in any other way.[1]
Notes[]
- It is not yet known why Ran, who has a great fear of halfs, is completely relaxed around Tilda.[2]
- It is not yet known why Yuta wants to eat her.[2]
- Several times, Tilda has brought up the quote that "those who live long, love long", though she claims that this is not from personal experience.[3]
- Tilda has been able to gain her position of magic guild manager, otherwise unprecedented for a half, due to her excellent memory. She remembers everything ever since she was a child and did not lose her memory even during the Cataclysm.[4]
- Tilda is on Collection Card No. 97 with the spelling "Tilda Meliot" (Initial fantranslation: Tilda Melliot)
Plot[]
History[]
Nothing is known about her early childhood, although she has been seen swinging on vines in a forest in a flashback.[4] At some point in her youth, Tilda began to serve in the household of the On family and she had saved Saha many times during his upbringing. Eventually, she left the household and built an independent life as teacher.[5]
During the Cataclysm, she was not affected by emotional resonance and she did not lose her memory of the events either,[4] regardless, she was affected by the widespread discrimination against halfs and forced to leave her occupation.[5]
Following these events, Saha, who had newly been appointed as an AA magician and the magical judge, employed her as his bodyguard and Tilda also succeeded at gaining the position of the manager of the magic guild, as the only half who ever held this post.[5]
Season 2[]
Chapter 24: Taboo[]
(5) At the Eloth Magic Guild, when the Branch President, Saha On, feels tired after using magic to kill a pair of inferior suras ~500km away, Tilda jokes that he could have Asha cast hoti visnu on him to bring his vigor back. He then has Tilda prepare for departure to the Human Search System.
(6) Tilda closely watches the time as Saha uses the Human Search System, and yells at him to get out once he is about to reach his time limit. In the lounge outside, she chastises him for taking such a big risk and tells him he could ask another AA to help him use the search, but he tells her he cannot trust the other AAs.
Chapter 27: Last Stand/Last Resort[]
(1) Tilda expresses her concern that Saha seems to have his priorities out of order—he should be focused on helping Rindhallow instead of obsessing with Asha's homicides. He assures her that this issue concerns the safety of humanity as well. When Tilda protests that Asha is not currently killing anyone, Saha warns her that he thinks she will begin killing again because some of her targets are still alive, and when the last one dies, something disastrous will occur. He needs to locate her targets using the Human Search System, but Tilda reminds him that he cannot access it again for another year and he is not willing to ask the other AAs for help. Saha responds that there will be a new AA soon, and Tilda must get the search system ready for Ran Sairofe's arrival to Eloth.
Chapter 28: Emergency/Flight[]
(4) Tilda informs Saha that Ran Sairofe has passed through Eloth's checkpoint ahead of schedule without using hoti vayu, with the rest of his party still traveling through the desert. They locate Ran in the East City Outskirts eating lunch, causing a commotion among the nearby crowd of people. Tilda explains that Saha has been sleep-deprived waiting for Ran's arrival, and asks him why he didn't go directly to the Magic Guild upon his arrival. Ran explains that the vote wouldn't be for a while, and he wasn't properly dressed to greet everyone. Tilda informs him that voting is already over, and he is now the #2-ranked AA. Saha then tells him that for his first job as the new AA, he has someplace he needs to go...
(5) As Ran brags that even his brother didn't get an AA rank, Tilda tells him he could have if he wanted. For some reason Yuta wants to eat her, and he also notices that Ran has no fear of her even though she is a Half. Tilda, Saha, and Yuta watch as Ran conducts a search inside the Human Search System, and Tilda comments that she hopes the remaining Kuberas are nearby.
(6) Back at the Eloth Magic Guild, Tilda explains to Ran that Saha's earlier searches led him to conclude that Asha was killing off individuals with the name 'Kubera', and Asha likely had many more than the 29 victims she went to trial for.
Chapter 31: Your Justice and Mine[]
(1) Lutz and Tilda walk along a mail transport loading dock in Eloth and discuss that Lutz had the route of the transport ship where an explosion occurred altered to Eloth in order to preserve evidence without raising suspicion. Suddenly, they hear a loud bang, and find an angry Yuta wearing his scarf and beating up the mail workers.
(2) Yuta uses a prototype writing pad created by Artram to apologize, he misunderstood the situation because those workers had his scarf. Lutz accepts the apology. On Yuta's request, Lutz explains the problematics of reversing death via hoti visnu. It is one of the most difficult spells and so the price is high. Certain rumors about the spell led to people choosing to put their names on the DNR list to avoid resurrection.
Lutz claims that the greatest virtue of a magician is to value human life, which is something that Asha Rahiro defiled by committing murder. Yuta states that he envies that humans do not need to eat each other. Such behavior is common in the sura realm and little value is placed on life. Lutz speculates that Asha is unlikely to get executed since she is extremely talented and potentially useful for society.
Since Lutz finds it difficult to predict Asha, he suggests taking precautions. He asks Yuta for help reviewing videos from the malfunctioned transport ship. Yuta watches the videos at an extremely fast pace. He points out that Claude Yui was on board the ship. While Lutz and Tilda are still speculating about Claude's guilt, Yuta breaks the machine and cries uncontrollably. He asks Lutz to use the hide of bondage to modify his scarf.
(4) Upon succeeding at the modification, Lutz states that something of the sort should only be possible with the consent of Kali who created the Hide. Lutz speculates that this is the case because Yuta is a direct relative of Kali, her son, perhaps. After all, Kali disappeared with many nastika names that Visnu left behind. If she used such a name to become a nastika and then had a son, that son would be a rakshasa with traits of a god.
Tilda asks if this does not make aiding Yuta dangerous, but Lutz is convinced that Yuta is a good person. Ran is comfortable around him, Agni let him enter a city, and by leaving Leez, Yuta proved that he values a human life over his instincts and desires.
Tilda suggests that when those who live long fall in love with those with shorter lives, there is no cure. To Lutz's question, she responds that this is not from personal experience. Lutz emphasizes that they should focus on defending Eloth because they too have a Kubera in the city.
(20) Aeroplateau and Rindhallow overlap barriers which proves to be a wise decision because if better helps them withstand the attacks by an army of suras that follow.
Tilda tells Lutz not to worry and to focus on protecting Eloth. It would be impossible to help Saha, who is in Rindhallow and Aeroplateau, anyway. When Lutz implies that there is a Kubera in Eloth, Tilda asks who that is. To her confusion, Lutz tells her to stop pretending and implies that she must be the Kubera. Tilda vehemently denies this, her name has always been Tilda and she was able to become the magic guild general manager because of her excellent memory which she did not lose even during the emotional resonance of the Cataclysm.
Lutz finds this information strange and wonders who the Kubera in Eloth may be if it is not Tilda. Together, they deduce that the Kubera in Eloth must be Saha himself. This was what allowed Saha to realize that the power of Kubera's name is dispersed. This means all Kuberas are in Aeroplateau and Rindhallow, which is under attack by suras.
Chapter 34: What Remains[]
(1) The attacks have ended, memory of Asha and many of the suras has disappeared, and Saha had been killed. Taken aback by his death, Tilda left to take some time off. Lutz suspects that Tilda must be dealing with the situation the worst and implies that she must have been in love with Saha. No matter how distinguished the men who approached Tilda, she would always reject them all.
Season 3[]
Chapter 37: Threat[]
(2) Tilda appears in a scene showing six individuals receiving confidential documents from Chandra instructing those who have been running his errands to meet in Kalibloom by the Day of Chaos (first day of the week) the following week.
Chapter 38: Devastation[]
(3) At the Eloth Magicians Guild, Ruche bursts into the office wondering why Tilda and Lutz have not boarded the transport ship, and if they plan on using her to teleport them instead. After poking a bit of fun at Ruche, Tilda reveals that they are not going to Kalibloom. Ruche questions it and points out that it was Chandra's orders. Lutz explains that it would be dangerous for him and Tilda to be there, and that he already sent an official letter to Rindhallow explaining that the Tarakas hunt their prey according to their transcendental value. He adds that since the Chaos barrier is the weakest of them all, it would be dangerous for those with high transcendental values to meet there.
Chapter 48: Separation[]
(2) As attacks on several cities are underway, Chandra appears in Eloth and asks about the situation. Lutz Sairofe responds that Aeroplateau is getting attacked and they are planning to overlap the barriers of the two cities. Tilda tells Chandra he would be more useful in other cities, then apologizes after Lutz reprimands her.
(4) As the cities get closer to overlapping, the attacks of the sura intensify. Tilda reports that the magicians are unable to locate the sura.
(15) As the barriers of Aeroplateau and Eloth finally overlap, Lutz wonders how come the sura stopped attacking Aeroplateou after doing so much damage, The priestess of Light speculates that it may be the same sura from 7 years ago. Tilda suggests that this city must not be the true target of the suras.
Special Episode 1 - Gaze[]
(1) After the Cataclysm, N1, Tilda wakes up in the presence of Saha, who claims to have saved Tilda from a mob of half-haters who tried to kill her. Tilda thanks him and Saha offers for her to become his bodyguard and suggests she aim for the position of the manager of the magic guild.
In the 10th month of N19, Tilda returns after being absent for 3 years. Lutz arrives to greet her in her office. He hints that Tilda was gone because of heartbreak over Saha's death. Tilda reveals that Ran told her about Lutz's suspicions that she was in love with Saha and she asks him not to make assumptions. Ran also told her that, according to Lutz, she does not respond no matter how distinguished the man who approaches. She wonders who this distinguished man is supposed to be.
A series of flashbacks reveals how Lutz has been attempting to get Tilda's attention over the years, asking her to become a servant in his house instead of Saha's, asking her to be his own bodyguard, and even asking her about her opinions on dating younger men.
Lutz apologizes to Tilda and attempts to talk his way out by pointing out that Tilda has been avoiding romantic involvements. Tilda tells him that he has no place giving relationship advice and that he is just as clumsy at expressing his true feelings as Ran. Lutz asks what she is hinting at by those true feelings but Tilda refuses to answer and takes her leave.
Special Episode 8 - The South Pole Expedition[]
(1) In year N22, Chandra chooses 7 people to gather Taraka fragments for him, Tilda among them. Each of them had a choice to either go to the land of unending winter, or to go to the south pole, or to personally tell Chandra to bug off. Only Tilda was brave enough to go for the third option.
