Current Federal law provides protection against discrimination on the basis of disability (Americans with Disabilities act of 1990, Rehabilitation Act of 1973), age (Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967), sex (Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Civil Rights Acts [CRA] of 1964, 1991), race, color, national origin, religion, pregnancy (CRA, 1964, 1991), and genetic information (Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008). The law applies to hiring, as well as internal decision making, for employers with more than 15 employees (20 employees for age discrimination).
