Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful(ly Warm, for This Time of Year)
I’m in the midst of wrapping up a few last items in the office before heading home for the holidays. It’s a slightly odd feeling; this is the first time in almost 20 years that I’m operating on a calendar other than the academic one, meaning that my holidays are for the first time in ages literally the holidays: I’m working from home tomorrow, and the office will be closed on Monday. And then I’ll be back in here on Tuesday.
The last couple of days have been pretty pleasant, however; the flow of email has slowed enormously, and I’ve finally been able to sit still and get some organizing done.
Which is not to say that I’ve been as productive as I ought to have been; I’ve got a big pile of writing that must get done in the next two weeks. So I’ll be spending this long weekend — and the long New Year’s weekend as well — holed up in front of my computer, thinking the big thoughts.
I’m going to start, however, with an unexpected evening on my terrace, taking advantage of the utterly unseasonable temperatures out there.
It’s an odd holiday season this year, but it’s got its benefits. All the best of them to you and yours.
