Intervention
It’s spring break here at MSU, and never in the history of spring break was a spring break more needed.[1] I’ve spent the week digging into book revisions that I’d been dragging my heels on, mostly out of fear that I didn’t know what I was doing. That I had no authoritative position from which to be writing about leadership, and an insufficient research base to make up for it.
But a conversation late last week with a beloved colleague helped me turn the corner. All she did was say “at some point in there you need to be sure to write about your experience with” and rattled off two key things I’ve done that in fact embody the transformation in leadership I’m arguing for.
I wish for that collegial intervention, at exactly the right moment, for all of you.
Possibly a slight exaggeration, but not by much. ↩︎
