【和訳とコメント】Frank Ocean - Dear April

 

書評じゃない番外記事。

フランク・オーシャンのDear Aprilという曲の歌詞を以下に訳してみた。

 

COVID-19ウィルスの影響で世界人口の過半数が外出を制限されている2020/4/3に、この曲は突然ストリーミングリリースされた。

 

Geniusの解説によると、曲自体は昨年（2019年）から既に発表されていたものらしい。けれども、恋人との関係が変わってしまったことを歌っている歌詞は、いま聞くと違った意味にも聞こえてくる。ウィルスの影響で生活が損なわれて失われてしまった状況にとても合うのだ。"what we had won't be the same now"（もう今までと同じではいられない）という部分とか特に。

 

では和訳をどうぞ。
フランク・オーシャンの歌詞はいつもながら省略が多いので、若干意訳している。
