Polder Sofa contains a mix of fabrics, colours, industrial elements and craft details. The name and the design refer to the typical Dutch ‘polder’ landscape: the arti­ficial land reclaimed from the sea by means of long horizon­tal dykes and inter­secting drainage canals. Polder Sofa was Jongerius’ first industrially designed piece of furniture and marked the start of a close collaboration with Vitra.
