“Westside Story” is the tale of star-crossed lovers whose tragic flaw is their deep love for each other, in the face of an intractable civil war between their people.

“Westside Stories” is the latest installment in the tale of the wandering Jews. Not the ones in the Torah, but the ones who have endured the trek from Houston to retired life.

Recently, Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss and Lenny and Paula Holzband of Congregation Shma Koleinu joined together to bring Torah to Del Webb in Richmond, Texas.

In the Holzbands’ home, more friends gathered for Torah learning. Rabbi Hausman-Weiss spoke about why, in Hebrew, Exodus is called Shemot. The former, meaning “leave, escape,” and the latter, meaning “names.” An engaging and illuminating conversation took place, and Sinai found a new home.

The Holzbands also will host the next Torah study on Shabbat morning, March 4, from 10-11:30 a.m. To participate and receive the address, RSVP to [email protected].
