The man in the rear pool is an unnamed character who lives in the nonfunctional rear pool in Kai Tak Resort. He acts as the catalyst for getting into the Wetworks.
Personality[]

The man in the rear pool is a typical conspiracy theorist, with corkboards filled with papers connected by string and thumbtacks hung on the walls. He wears what might be a colander on his head. He is a cautious person, asking to ensure Polyblank isn't shadowed when meeting him, and already knowing of the tracker implanted.
Despite his eccentric nature, he is intelligent, having discovered a way to the Wetworks and gathered information relating to the Editor and possibly the Syndicate as a whole. He has some idea who Polyblank is, as viewing the TV immediately upon entry shows he had a camera watching room 405.
Plot Relevance[]
Before officially revealing himself, he watches Polyblank from several points throughout Kai Tak, peeking out from behind objects and vanishing when approached or looked directly at. At this point, the rear pool itself can't be accessed, being blocked off for maintenance reasons.
After waking up in room 404, a note slides under the door, asking to meet up at the rear pool. The blockade is removed, allowing entrance. The man first removes a tracking device in the player's tooth before continuing, explaining how the world they're in is a simulation, but he found a way out. He presents a guitar and explains the Mechanical Pig must be killed and cooked. After entering the Wetworks, he isn't seen again.
The Rear Pool[]
The rear pool itself is filled with various machinery and items normally found in houses, such as a fridge, TV, and a couch. A door, frame and all, stands in the middle of the room.
The corkboards on the walls contain various headlines giving slight insight into the state the Jazzpunk world is in, as well as what the Editor and Lady in Red are involved in. The headlines are as follows:
- "Tantalum Prices Sky-Rocket"
- "Lysergide[1] Levels Increased In Water Supply"
- "Ganymede Vetos RANCOM Blockade"
- "SVETVAK Issues Simulant Recall"
Trivia[]
- The man in the rear pool can be unlocked as a playable character in Wedding Cake.
