One of the worst 3D platformers I’ve played

this was made in a week, and it shows. I love Celeste, and I love 64-bit 3D platformers, but this ain’t it. I’d want my money back if it weren’t free. The controls and depth perception are just so wonky.

if you can tell me with a straight face that this is a good 3D platformer with good controls, you’re a fantastic liar.

It's a great 3d platformer and it is astonishing that they made it in just a week.

However, if you really hated it that much, I have good news for you! They put the source code up on GitHub so you can go try to make it better. :D

Or, if you really believe the game is beyond fixing, you can go download Godot and try making your own from scratch.

Good luck! I can't wait to see what masterfully crafted 3d platformer you can come up with! :D

dude this is like watching roombas fight. "game bad" vs "if u think game bad make better game". 2 intellectual titans in the ring.

Well, it isnt his job to develop games. He is just a commenter and i also agree this games controles are so bad to the point its almost unplayable. I dont understand why y'all say ''Well do better yourself then🤡'' like it isnt even his job or responsibilty. It was for Maddy tho.

The game is literally FREE

I’m done. This is just a waste of time at this point. lol

Just look at literally everyone else loving the game and maybe reconsider.

press the Esc key

Everything is labeled.

tbf for me a handful of pretty random keys can close the game, but not Esc

pressing x at the top level menu will close it. in-game, esc-> save and quit, then X

It was made in under 2 weeks. No game ever reaches its "ideal" form, but this one should get some keyboard and mouse and mapping improvements sooner or later (it's open source).

press the 'back' key enough times (x on keyboard, circle on ps4 controller) when not in map, alt+f4, task manager end task if on windows. Also in case you haven't figured out there is a pause menu from where you can save & quit

I found it fun, but the perspective issues are definitely a problem, I would like it a lot less if I had to pay for it. As a free experimental game I can't complain. The casette level where you're collecting the Os on the falling platforms was infuriating, took me like 50 tries because I could never tell if I was going to land on a platform or not.

I completely agree with you

I loved eeeeeverything about this game, except for this level. It was sheer stubbornness that had me persevere through this bit. Despite that this was overall a wonderful experience and worth playing for anyone who loved Celeste, especially anyone who also loved Mario 64/sunshine

Yeah I still enjoyed it overall, but there's clearly a problem here that can't be overcome easily. Maybe that's why they made it a free game intead of trying to flesh it out into a full product though.

The game definitely has issues, but all games do, and that doesn't make the game inherently bad. Making such a bold complaint about QC on a free (and open source) game that hasn't even been out a week doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Now that I got a controller and can play this game how it is intended  I see the  depth perception as my biggest problem. You never know if you are above a platform or not because there is  no indicator and if that's not hard enough, the control for the movement is unsteady for me. I would need some seconds to calculate the next jump, but because there is a falling platform everywhere this is just extremely hard even though I'm used to 3d platfomer games, I play them the most. So I run through the whole map and was only able to catch 4 berries at all after many attempts. I can't believe there are players who got all berries under an hour.

But apart from the skill issue it's a very beautiful and lovely game, everything seems so inviting to explore the world, but and I wish there was an "easy mode" option which gives you the ability to spawn at the last platform before you died.

i don't know why the argument is "nuh uh it's good nuh uh it's bad." everyone's going to have different opinions. this just seems really hateful for a free project made in a week.

I don't necessarily think the game is bad, but it is certainly janky as hell.

Personally I really enjoyed it. I'm curious, what are some problems other than depth perception and controls that you felt held it back?

nuh uh

I swear I tried to enjoy it, Ilove Celeste and I know this 3D project was made in just a week and I salute the team for the lovely game they created, but WASD for CAMERA?? That’s just nonsense.
I also know it was made with controllers in mind, but why not just let people use the typical WASD + Mouse for movement instead of WASD for camera and arrow keys for movement? Its just nearly impossible to play on PC with a keyboard, period.
