Ive never ran to an exit so fast in my life and I play Lethal Company ha. I got to the completion page while probably dodging a million bullets. that was intense!

Developer

Hahaha, thanks. That means that I made something more scarier than that! :-D
Thanks for playing, I will try to improve to make it more what was supposed to be, a mix between stealth and hit & run tactics.

I see what you're going for here! Keep working on it. Only way i could finish it was running to the exit on lvl1 and lvl2 didnt seem to have one? Enemies also didnt move until i died once and restarted the level.

some other points

  • random weapons are ok, but you need some stability for a longer run, perhaps let me select or only change one
  • enemy speed (both bullets and movement) is way too high, always make the player faster unless its for specific enemies. funny situation, the missiles speed is the same as players so i often had it as a tail in my ass.
  • lower HP, it was impossible to kill more than maybe 1. but by that point im getting bombarded with bullets.

These type of games are all about balance and creating the player power fantasy. Good job :)

Thank you very much for playing.

Yes, Level 2 has an exit too and once you reach it, the game actually ends.

I didn't see the enemy not moving until you die as issue, though at one point I programmed the mortar tanks to don't move if you are in view, so unless you get only those nearby to you, that should be fixed.

Random weapon is due to time constrains, I couldn't fit a menu to choose them at the beginning of each level. I might have some levels with partial random equipment, due to the story and something you can choose or collect on the way. I will keep in mind your suggestion.

Yes, enemies move too fast, bullets are quite ok. Missiles are the same speed as you, to add a challenge, what I was expecting the player to do was to drive them towards other enemy tanks, so you don't need to shoot as much to destroy the opponents. One easy combo is to be between a mortar tank and a missile launcher tank. When the missile launcher shoot at you, you run towards the mortar, that will not hit you straight away, pass next to mortar and let the missiles hit/destroy the mortar. In the meantime missile launcher tank has used quite a few of its ammo and once finished, it's an easy target.

All enemies have the same ammo as you, so you can let them waste hitting each other, so they get injured and then become an easy target.

I will have to increase a bit the mech mobility though to make it playable in this way.

Another option in the future is to choose the type of mech, allow local multiplayer and add CPU controlled team members with some voice acting.

Thank you for the feedback, if you don't mind, I can contact you in the future to check out new upcoming versions.

Unfortunately it’s often impossible to beat a level because I use up all my ammo on 1-2 enemies or I get rushed by the entire army right from the start :D But not bad for only a single day.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, yes, the game need a bit of balance.
The idea is that you have to reach the exit without the need to kill all. I was thinking about a mix between stealth and action, more like a hit & run tactics.

I will improve it in the free time and try to make it more playable.

Thank you for trying! :-)

I did complete the game by running to the finish. There was no way I could destroy more than one tank. I like that you get various weapons. Unfortunately I found the weapons ineffective. Surprisingly I had no issues with the controls, especially using mortars to target tanks. However, the target cursor going off-screen could be improved visually with a slightly smaller level size. Also being able to pass through tanks like ghosts didn't add to the challenge and their strength should be balanced to avoid the feeling of constantly running from perusing missiles. The enemy tanks are too fast in my opinion. Overall a promising game with room for tweaks to enhance gameplay.  Love the sounds and the way enemies can detect you and how they try to destroy you like a real player. Well done.

Developer

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback.
Yes, you are right there are quite a few things to fix, I didn't test intensively because working on the game in one day, including making the drawings and animations, took a good percentage of time.

Definitely I will improve it, since a lot of people seems to like the idea.

Yes, slowing down tanks, might do already a big difference.

In my test, I could manage to complete level 1 destroying the enemies, though lots depends on the weapon you get and the enemies you face, since all is randomised. In the second level I could destroy half of them, after I have to run too to the exit.

The thing to keep in mind is that enemies too have limited ammo and there is friendly fire. So, they are immune to their own bullets only, aside for the mortars if I recall well. That means that you need to try to get tank 1 missiles hit the other tanks. Same thing with the other weapons.

You can try it again with this piece of information, maybe you can kill a few tanks :-)

Thanks again for trying it!

The turning as others mentioned make it a bit difficult but i persevered!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback and for test it. Have you managed to finish the game killing some enemies or even you just ran to the exit?

Submitted(+1)

didn’t like the controls at all.

good premise for a game, but the turning was chonky.

Developer

Thank you Samuel, yes need a bit of polishing, like you, I did it in just one day.

Hopefully next time I will have more time, but it's a good chance to make it a proper game, since seems that the game idea seems approved :-)

The slow turning is painful :0 it made me not want to fight the enemies.
Maybe using the mouse to aim and separating it from the movement direction could solve it, but on the other hand the sluggish turn makes it feel more mech-like, but feels to clunky right now.

Developer

Thank you for trying, I will definitely see to find a compromise between slow mech movement and make it easier to control.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Fun concept but still to polish, go on!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I will give it a go to fix it once I'll have a bit of free time!

I will let you know once a better version will be ready :-)

Didn't bother fighting back cause of how slow I turned... just jetted for the exit lol

Developer

Thanks to trying it!
Definitely need more testing, unfortunately I didn't have time working on it just for one day.

I was wondering if it would be better to increase the rotation or add a turret to allow the legs move in a direction and the rest of the body can shoot at 360 degrees like a tank.

What do you think would be more interesting to try?

Submitted(+1)

I did not use my brain, I just ran like crazy. lol

Developer

Hahaha, that's one way to do it.
I didn't have time to add the additional 3 levels I was planning too, where you need to think a bit more tactically.

Well, I might add them in the future if people are happy to see it developed more.

Thanks for trying it out! :)
