Very fun to play, great art and SFX! I've never played games like this so it took some time to learn how to play exactly. It wouldn't mind having auto-attack mode I could enable when I need to focus on making the skill tree changes.
The art is very high quality but I feel like there's just too little feedback on hits and stuff. I don't feel like I'm doing damage if that makes sense. Aside from that it's a great game, good job!
I like that you can see what hasn't an effect and swap it out to deal better damage. Very clever game. Also, the art is quality.
Very cool game! i like the system where you have to change things mid fight!
This is such a fun game! Great job! One thing is that the size of the pixels for each character didn't blend with the background leading to a mixel effect. Otherwise, the gameplay was really fun and it was nice to have to switch skill trees mid battle
I love the setting of the game! Little critters fighting and surviving in a forest is an underrepresented aesthetic in games haha. The character and enemy sprites are fantastic too!! If this was a full game I'd complain about mixels (which is when there's inconsistent pixel sizes in the game) but for a jam submission I don't think it's really that much of an issue. Fighting and upgrading mechanics as well as groups vs. single enemies were fun too
I did encounter a softlock on the beetle king - it showed me the panel about resistances but I had no way to hide the panel no matter what I pressed. Let me know when you fix it, I'd be glad to give the game another try!!
Yes, unfortunately on upload to itch the background for the game dropped off and it's displaying our placeholder background so it looks disjointed. The true background is the one you see in the games thumbnail.
For the Beetle King there is an explanation on how to get passed him in the games overview, he is using a Leaf Elemental Shield and there is a way to get passed it
Thanks for playing!
I think I encountered a bug on the third combat! I wasn't able to progress :( I enjoyed the music and was intrigued by the combat system. I think it would definitely help to have some visual feedback as to where I'm suppose to click during the tutorial (as well as a notification for when the combat has officially begun).
Squirrel pixel art was really, really impressive
amazing arts and music and idea, some stuff that like confused me is what ssercon literaly said, about the skill system but other wise, very good keep it up, check mine at your own will (❁´◡`❁)
Your profile image is Frieren, so I'm here
This game is unique and I like it
The game is fun and I'm looking forward to it
I hope it will be publishing later
The art is amazing and I like the music! It was really interesting to play turn-based combat but kind of real time as well? Super great job!
Feedback:
- The skill-point system confused me for a bit. I first thought I had 4/4 skillpoints available and it took a bit to figure out that wasn't the case.
- Having a clear "pause" moment in which you can go through the trees and think a bit would be nice. It was unclear now when there was time for that and when not.
Cute game. It might be just me but I found it quite difficult to spam the abilities while trying to figure out what to respec to while taking damage the whole time.
Art looks really pretty, also the audio was really nice. And the concept where you use a skilltree to fight was interesting. However, I feel that it wasn't that engaging yet, quickly guessing the right element and then activating that wasn't that much fun. But that may just be because Pokémon type of games aren't really something I like.
Super cool fast paced strategy combat, almost turn based but not really. Checking the enemy's windup and blocking is very satisfying. All the art assets by themselves are very cool, but a bit of mixel happening. And maybe a longer tutorial would be better, but it works.
Love the visuals and the animations and the combat! Its simple yet its easy to learn. I also love that the combat gets deeper as you progress and also I love that we can respec ourselves during battle, allows for adaptability and decision making. Great job!
