Fun game! I liked it, the only issue is that it was too easy! More mechanics and difficult levels would be cool.

I noticed there's a lag sometimes when two windows collide (when enlarging one), on linux.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! Sadly, we couldn't get a Linux playtester in time, so we couldn't find out what problems could arise on it. But hey, at least it sounds like it works.

THIS IS AWESOME! I'm feeling like a little kid again! I hope you make it in the top 100!

Developer

Haha, that's too kind of you. Thanks a lot for playing!

You're on another level, man. This is an example of a great and unique use of the theme. Well done!

I like the unique idea and execution using actual windows as gameplay elements!

Thanks for playing!

Wow, really impressed with this idea! Well executed and left me wanting more. Was amazed when literal windows appeared on my screen and it wasn't a virtual desktop environment like I expected. Great job!

Thanks a lot, and thanks for playing!

Really cool game, I'm guessing you took some inspiration from Windowkill? I had a lot of fun in the few short levels I was able to play, but I'm either missing something or the game just won't work right for me:

Basically all the windows are up in the top-left of my screen and usually start out overlapping, but that didn't really stop me until this point - I don't see the character anywhere, and moving doesn't seem to do anything. Could this be because I have a dual-monitor setup, or a high-res ultrawide?

If you can patch out the bugs, this would be amazing!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Not only did we take inspiration from Windowkill, we only persisted through the technical challenges because we knew it was possible.

Looking from the image, something is definitely wrong. They shouldn't overlap. We tested on dual monitor, but maybe the high resolution or scale might be affecting it. Will have to test it out some time tonight.

Heyo awesome game! I also had the same idea about resizing the screen, but the team decided that would be too much for the scope of the jam so I got very happy to see that someone else executed the same concept and even cooler that its from people i've worked with in another jam! Anyways I really enjoyed playing it and i cannot imagine  how troublesome it was to code all the windows.

Thanks for playing! I see great minds think alike :) We barely got the things all working so it was really risky but we're glad it worked out it the end.

Fantastic idea, great take on the theme, and a brilliant execution. Thank you for spending your weekend in (I can only imagine) a very hard battle with window managers and viewports, you've made a thoroughly enjoyable experience. More details:

Presentation: Simple, I LOVE the window bobbing up and down, such a nice touch, and the sound controls sitting there were brilliant. Sound design was excellent and effects felt satisfying.

Mechanics: Nice introduction of each mechanic. I got a little confused about what the icon for "window that scales the character too" was - but only for a minute or so, and then with enough fumbling around, I got it. Maybe introduce that in a puzzle where the player is forced to accidentally discover it, and make it glow, to show them what it's doing? Not sure, just nit-picking really.

I'd love to see other aspects of windows explored - opening new ones? Minimising them? Jumping off context menus? The possibilities are endless.

Overall, it's got the quality of a fantastic gamejam game: my immediate thought at the end was "MAKE MORE LEVELS!!!". Great job guys.

You're absolutely right about the problem with the introduction of the "scaling" mechanic. We also found out it was quite difficult for our playtesters to understand it as well, but sadly we didn't have enough time to figure out a better way to introduce that mechanic.

Thanks for your comment, and thanks a lot of playing!

Very innovative execution on a simple concept. Good work.

Holy cow, this is absolutely the most creative game I have played thus far. Each new level blew my mind with how you created a new way to think about the window concept. Just tremendous work, I applaud you!

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Game design is super nice but honestly I feel like using real windows for that is a bit of overkill (and my antivirus is not happy about that)

But the game itself is cool

Developer (1 edit)

Haha, sorry about that. We wanted to do this way because it seemed very interesting from a technical standpoint.

Thanks for playing!

I loved your game! The window moving/resizing works very well and the mechanics have an ENORMOUS potential. I would play the heck out of a full version.

Fun game! windows version works well but linux has a lot of lag.

Developer

Thanks for playing! And thanks for helping test the game on Linux, good to know that it runs at least.
