Google Mail
Google Mail is the preferred email system at Stony Brook University for faculty, staff, and students on West Campus, Southampton, Manhattan, and select departments within the Health Sciences Center.
Members of Stony Brook Medicine, including Stony Brook Hospital and the School of Dental Medicine, will continue to use Microsoft Exchange for email due to HIPAA compliance requirements.

Getting Started
Login to Stony Brook Google Mail at www.stonybrook.edu/mycloud
Sign in with your NetID and password
Email addresses use the format [email protected]
Find your address by clicking on your picture/initial in the top right corner of Gmail once you log in.
Access Google Mail anywhere: desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
You can even set up offline access for when you don't have internet access.

Categorize messages with a tabbed inbox or change how your inbox is ordered.
Archive messages to move them out of your inbox without deleting them.
You can choose how your emails are grouped in your inbox.

Going to be away? Turn on your Vacation Responder and add Out of Office to Calendar.
Reference, create, or edit Calendar invites right from your inbox.
Send, receive, and download attachments up to 25MB (share larger files via Drive).
Get Nudges to respond to or follow up on messages or use Smart Replies to respond quickly.
Snooze emails to move them out of your inbox until a specific time.
Confidential Mode
Gmail Confidential Mode, helps protect sensitive information from unauthorized access. Confidential mode allows you to
- Set an expiration date for email messages
- Revoke recipients' access at any time
- Help prevent accidental sharing of the body of emails

Note: Confidential messages don't have the buttons to forward, copy, download, or print the email body, but confidential mode doesn't prevent recipients from taking screenshots or photos of your messages or attachments or maliciously downloading them.
