It’s time for a cozy fall cross stitch project! This year I was inspired by all of the toadstools I saw on long autumn walks with my dogs. Night or day: cute, autumnal toadstools can be found if you just have a look around. And what better way to spend the dark and stormy evenings than by sitting cozying up with a warm drink and diving into a charming, nature-inspired cross stitch project? As the leaves begin to fall and the world outside fills with warm colors, cross stitching autumnal toadstools is a delightful way to bring a bit of the season’s magic indoors. This pattern is beginner-friendly and relaxing to work on. So, grab your needle and thread, and let’s stitch up a bit of fall magic!
New to cross stitch? You’ll love this project!
I really enjoy designing cross stitch patterns that can be made by anyone and everyone. That’s why I always make sure that my patterns can be added to your pattern keeper and that you can zoom in really well on both the colored as the black and white patterns. It’s so much fun to get started and I hope that you’ll share my love for fall by stitching this toadstool pattern yourself. Cross stitching is one of the easiest stitching techniques. Why? Well you only use one type of stitch. And that makes it perfect for beginners. You really only need a needle, thread, embroidery hoop, and 14 count Aida fabric.
Creative ways to display your cross stitched toadstool
Are you all done cross stitching your autumn toadstool? Then I can tell you that the fun is not yet over! Because once you’ve finished stitching your toadstool masterpiece, it’s time to decide where it will live! Of course you could display your handmade toadstool in its original 6 inch hoop. Displaying it in the hoop you stitched in gives your design a really homemade feel. You can hang it on the wall, prop it up on a shelf and display it between other fall décor like leaves, candles and pumpkins. You can also take your cross stitched fall toadstools out of the hoop and attach your work to a pillow cover, t-shirt, or other piece of fabric. You could also find a fitting photoframe to display it in. Whatever you do take a moment to decide how you want to display your creation because cross stitch is not only about the crafting itself. It’s also about enjoying your design once it’s done!
Start cross stitching your own forest of toadstools
I actually designed not one but two separate toadstools. One toadstool in the sunlight and one late at night. Can you spot the differences between both toadstools? See that little moth there on the left? You’ll only find it on the nighttime variant of this pattern. And see those blue flowers in the daytime variant? You won’t find them on the nighttime toadstool. Each pattern is unique and that makes them both so fun to stitch! I hope you enjoy stitching these adorable toadstools this fall!
