Rooftop, a quick story
Rooftop draws inspiration from the American grotesks of the early 20th century, such as Lining Gothic of Barnhart Bros. and Spindler, and Gothic No. 2 of Palmer & Ray. While paying homage to these historical influences, Rooftop infuses a humanist approach to grotesk typeface construction, imbuing it with a contemporary tech startup vibe.
Characterized by slightly squarish curves, a design element reminiscent of early 21st-century typefaces but with a modern twist, Rooftop exudes a sense of sturdiness and technological sophistication. This aesthetic is further emphasized by the bold and assertive construction of letters like f, t, r, g, and y. Its subtly techy and digital feel makes it an ideal choice for modern companies seeking to project a cutting-edge image.
Rooftop is a highly adaptable font family comprising 96 styles, organized into 5 distinct subfamilies. Each subfamily offers 8 weights with 16 styles, catering to a wide range of design needs. Rooftop Standard and Rooftop Compact prioritize legibility and are ideal for use in continuous text passages. Rooftop Ultra Condensed and Condensed are designed for impactful titles or layouts where space-saving is crucial. Rooftop Wide and Extended feature wider letterforms for a bold and eye-catching presence.
Additionally, Rooftop offers the flexibility of being used either as individual weights or as a single variable font containing all 96 styles within a single font file. This versatility allows for seamless integration and easy customization across various design projects.
