Specifically, plastic samples from partially denatured feathermeal and bloodmeal proteins, derived from the animal co-products (rendering) industry, were successfully produced through a compression molding process. The modulus (stiffness) of the material obtained was found to be comparable with that of commercial synthetic materials, such as polystyrene, but was found to have lower toughness characteristics, which is a common phenomenon among plastics produced from animal and plant proteins. Therefore, this study explored blending methods for improving the toughness. Plastic forming conditions for undenatured animal proteins such as chicken egg whites albumin and whey, used as a model, were established to prepare plastics from their blends with animal co-product proteins. The resultant plastic samples f...

Bacteria use two alternative pathways to synthesize nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) from ... more Bacteria use two alternative pathways to synthesize nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) from nicotinamide (Nam). A short, two-step route proceeds through nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) formation, whereas the other pathway, a four-step route, includes the deamidation of Nam and the reamidation of nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide (NAAD) to NAD. In addition to having twice as many enzymatic steps, the four-step route appears energetically unfavourable, because the amidation of NAAD includes the cleavage of ATP to AMP. Therefore, it is surprising that this pathway is prevalent not only in bacteria but also in yeast and plants. Here, we demonstrate that the considerably higher chemical stability of the deamidated intermediates, compared with their amidated counterparts, might compensate for the additional energy expenditure, at least at elevated temperatures. Moreover, comprehensive bioinformatics analyses of the available >6000 bacterial genomes indicate that an early selec...

IoT network comprises heterogeneous devices to a great scale, which creates numerous security threats. In this paper, a smart home based on IoT architecture is considered, where the IoT smart Hub(ISH) communicate with the cloud in one hand, and home appliances and smart devices on the other. The IoT smart Hub(ISH) receives commands from the smart phone which is connected to the cloud through the internet, where lies the possibility of an external attack. This paper proposes a secure authentication protocol between smart phone and ISH, which supports ISH for ensuring security in the smart home scenario.

Herein, the objective of the present research is to evaluate the shelf life and kinetic release of the developed microcapsules. The study was conducted by measuring actual loading capacity over a period of time using spectroscopic analysis. The transfer percentage of particles from nonwoven facial wipes to skin-like surfaces was also investigated by simulating the rubbing mechanism with a robotic transfer replicator. Although particles stored as powder form under room temperature showed only eight days of shelf-life, particles stored as a dispersion in a refrigerator maintained 60% of the theoretical loading capacity after one month. The kinetic release profile of the particles in ethanol with shaking at 100 rpm and 37±2°C showed an initial burst in the first half an hour, followed by a sustained release. It also showed that 98% of the retinyl palmitate content r...

Students learn more in an environment where these abovementioned characteristics are graded better on a scale by students. Based on the statistical analysis, the findings point out a low agreement of students towards course and tutorial characteristics while the majority of students are in high agreement of teacher characteristics are just right. There are no such differences in opinions between master and bachelor programme about course, teacher and tutorial characteristics. Study finds a strong association between overall performance of teacher and teacher characteristics but course and tutorial characteristics are not significantly affecting the overall performance of the teacher. However, this relationship is weaker when compared to teacher characteristics but still, course and tutorial characteristics are posi...

IINTRODUCTION The survey of WHO (World Health Organisation) carried out in 2011 tells us that in world about 1% of the human population is visually impaired and amongst them about 10% is fully blind. The main problem with blind people is mobility. This paper proposes a tool for visually impaired people that will provide them navigation. The experiment is carried on a mixed text of English and Hindi to detect topics. The technique tokenizes the mixed text of Hindi and English and models them into feature vector trough a process of Word2Vec. These vectors are clustered and the cluster centers are identified as the topic of the cluster of tokens

As we move onto higher frequency range, of the order of GHz, the effects of shunt conductance cannot be ignored, as it provides a measure of the possible leakage. Due to this reason, we have derived our on-chip interconnect delay metric considering distributed RLCG segments, rather than sticking to the conventional RLC and RC. We develop a novel analytical model based on the first few moments of the interconnect transfer function when the input is generalised signal. Delay estimate using our first moment based analytical model is within 3 % of SPICE-computed delay, and model based on first two moments is within 2 % of SPICE, across a wide range of interconnects parameter values.

This will help in trade policy decisions and make it possible to standpoint whether the export promotion is a good idea to accelerate economic growth. Design: The ELG hypothesis is examined for 107 countries through panel data analysis using cointegration and panel regression tests from 1990 to 2018. The study finds strong support for the long-run relationship between exports and gross domestic product and the export-led growth hypothesis in a two-variable regression framework. Findings: It is evident from the long-run coefficient of dynamic ordinary least squared that a 1.0 percent increase in real exports increases the real gross domestic product by 0.53 percent. The long-run coefficient of real exports for the Global South (0.55) is found higher than that of the Global North (0.51), which indicates that in the wave of globalization, the evidence of export-led ...

The accuracy level for localization is difficult to achieve in the case of urban and GPS denied environments due to high scattering. Fingerprint-based localization techniques promise to address these challenges. However, this technique demands to build a radio map before localization, which is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. This article designs a crowd-sourced based localization system to address the radio map building problem in fingerprinting localization system. In this method, the first initial radio map is constructed from the path-loss RSS model, followed by the update of the fingerprints with crowd-sourcing. Finally, the vehicle location is estimated from the RSS sample by matching it with an updated radio map with a deep learning algorithm. The main advantage of the proposed approach is the calibration-free crowd-sourced fingerprint generation and its applicability in various location-based services in urban infrastructure.

IoT based solutions have been developed for fulfilling the gap between Cyber and physical world. There are many issues for realizing the IoT due to its large scale and heterogeneous network structure. Energy efficient node deployment also called green deployment for IoT is one of the major challenging issue. Hence most of the existing deployment methods for WSNs are not workable for IoT. This paper addresses the challenges of deployment schemes to get an energy efficient IoT networks. It presents a homogeneous grid based deployment strategy and a heterogeneous circle packing based deployment strategy. The performance of both approaches are calculated by simulating different deployment scenarios. The network lifetime and energy consumption are calculated. It is found that the circle packing based deployment approach outperforms the other grid based approach in terms of energy efficiency and well suited for the heterogeneous network.
